The Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP)

The Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP) is a federal program that provides dental coverage to a growing number of Canadians. This plan covers many dental procedures, including dental cleanings, checkups, fillings, root canals, crowns, and dentures.

No Balance Billing

CDCP's recommended fees are lower than the BC fee guide, and many offices that follow the province's fees will bill the difference (i.e., "balance billing"). This difference is normally 15-20%.

Our office is pleased to provide services at the lower federal fee guide for patients with CDCP coverage. This means that there will be no balance billing when you visit our office.

CDCP Coverage

Coverage is based on your family income and whether you already have dental insurance. Depending on your family income, your coverage will be either 100% (a family income <$70,000), 60% (a family income between $70,000-$79,999), or 40% (a family income between $80,000 and $89,999). Because our office bills according to the federal fee guide, you can expect that your bill will accurately correspond with your coverage amount.

Excluded Procedures & Treatments

There are some procedures that are not currently covered by the federal government. This includes dental bridges, implants, and orthodontics, among other things. We will always endeavor to discuss these procedures with you first as well as any other treatment alternatives that may be available.
