The Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP) is a federal program that is providing dental coverage to a growing number of Canadians. Our office is pleased to accept the plan at the federal fee guide. This means patients can gain access to important dental work without having to worry about balance billing.
CDCP's recommended fee guide is lower than the BC guide, and many offices that follow the provincial price list will bill the difference (i.e., "balance billing"). This difference is normally 15-20%, though it varies by procedure. Our office is pleased to provide services at the lower federal fee guide for patients who have CDCP coverage. This means that there will be no balance billing when you visit our office.
You can apply for CDCP through the following link: Canadian Dental Care Plan - Apply - Canada.ca
Coverage is based on your family income and whether you already have dental insurance. Depending on your family income, your coverage will be either 100% (an income <$70,000), 60% (an income between $70,000-$79,999), or 40% (an income between $80,000 and $89,999). Because our office bills according to the federal fee guide, you can expect that your bill will accurately correspond with your coverage.
By June 1st, 2025, all age groups will be able to apply for the program. Don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions!
There are some procedures that are not currently covered by the federal government. This includes dental bridges, implants, and orthodontics, among other things. We will always endeavor to discuss these procedures with you first as well as any other treatment alternatives that may be available.
